These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the DawNote mobile application, the DawNote desktop application, and the DawNote plugin (collectively, the “App”), provided by Feedback Effect Audio (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of the Service

DawNote is a music production tool that allows users to record voice, text, and photo notes while listening to audio, and synchronise them with a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).

The App operates primarily through local network communication between user devices.

2. Licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal or professional purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

  • reverse engineer, modify, or adapt the App
  • redistribute, resell, or sublicense the App
  • use the App to develop a competing product

3. Free and Pro Versions

DawNote is available in a Free version and a Pro version.

  • The Free version includes functional limitations.
  • The Pro version unlocks extended capabilities.
  • Desktop and plugin components of DawNote are provided free of charge.

4. User Content

The App allows you to record, import, and transmit audio, text, and images (“User Content”).

  • You retain full ownership of your User Content.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you record or import.
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring you have all necessary rights to use such content.
  • We do not monitor, review, or control User Content.

5. Local-First Architecture

DawNote is designed as a local workflow tool.

  • Your data is stored on your devices.
  • Data is transmitted over your local network.
  • We do not host or store your content on our servers.

6. Network and Performance

DawNote relies on local network communication. We do not guarantee:

  • uninterrupted synchronisation
  • real-time accuracy
  • compatibility with all network environments

We do not control the security of third-party or public networks. You are responsible for ensuring that your network environment is secure.

7. Safety

Do not use the App in situations requiring full attention, including while driving or operating machinery. You are responsible for using the App safely.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

Feedback Effect Audio shall not be liable for any loss of data, loss of projects, loss of work, loss of revenue, or any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the App, including but not limited to technical failures, software bugs, system incompatibilities, or network issues.

You are solely responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of your data and projects.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Feedback Effect Audio (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use DawNote.

1. Overview

DawNote is designed with a local-first architecture.

  • Your data stays on your devices.
  • No cloud account is required.
  • No central storage of your audio or project data.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only limited data necessary to operate the App.

a) Account / Licence Data
DawNote mobile apps (iOS and Android) do not collect personal data.

b) Technical Data

  • device type
  • operating system
  • app version

c) Network Data
IP address (used temporarily for local communication and not stored).

d) Usage Data
We do not currently collect usage statistics or analytics data.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do NOT collect or store:

  • your audio recordings
  • your project files
  • your notes or annotations
  • your DAW sessions

4. Microphone Usage

The App uses the microphone only when you explicitly trigger a recording action.

  • No background recording occurs without explicit user action.
  • No continuous listening.
  • No audio sent to external servers.

5. Camera and Photo Library

The App may request access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to attach an image to a note.

  • Images are stored locally on your device.
  • Images are never transmitted to our servers.

6. Local Network Access

The App may request permission to access your local network in order to enable communication between your devices. All data transfer occurs within your local network.

7. Data Storage

  • All user content is stored locally.
  • We do not provide cloud storage for user data.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (such as TLS and AES) where applicable. However, no system can guarantee absolute security, especially on third-party or public networks.

9. Third-Party Components

The App may use limited third-party components such as OpenSSL (encryption). The App does not use advertising SDKs.

10. Desktop and Plugin Components

The DawNote desktop application and plugin operate locally and do not collect personal data.

11. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data
  • request correction or deletion
  • object to processing

12. Children

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Updates will be posted on this page.
